JTL BLACKGUARD

The JTL is our take on the 50's classic Blackguard tele. Obeche is selected for the body for its resonance and nice lightweight. The neck is carved from quarter sawn maple and finished in oil, creating a very stable neck with a great feel. Maple or rosewood can be chosen for the fingerboard, maple being slightly brighter in tone while rosewood adding a little warmth. A transparent white base coat is applied to the body followed by a butterscotch tint, revealing the beautiful grain. Thin coats of clear cellulose lacquer are applied and after a minimum of two weeks drying time the guitar is cut back to 800grit then 1200grit and finally polished to a high gloss achieving a classic butterscotch blonde finish.

All hardware is high quality, and as standard includes a Gotoh bridge with a compensated brass saddles. The Gotoh vintage style tuners allow fine tuning and smooth operation. The guitar is fitted with two high quality RS Guitarworks 250k CTS pots with a Superpot for the volume giving a very even taper.

Bare Knuckle Blackguard Tele Series pickups are fitted as standard with a Flat ‘50 in the bridge position having a simply massive sound. Chunky bottom-end and snarling mids create a throaty tone with excellent natural sustain that can really push a tube amp hard. A Flat ‘52 in the neck has an open, almost Strat-like neck tone. We can fit most other make of pickups.
